Influences
Both in dance and in aesthetic perception, I was influenced and shaped a lot by trips and residencies in Morocco, Turkey, Japan, India, Uzbekistan, Iran and Indonesia, where I studied dance and music. However, the influences were always mixed with my Moravian roots.
Playing piano and percussion gave me a certain musicality, very valuable for dance. Perhaps the biggest influence for me was my partner - a musician Hearn Gadbois, then dancer Sashar Zarif and a long line of inspiring teachers of improvisation and composition (Sandra Reeve, Suprapto Suryodarmo, Daniel Lepkoff, David Zambrano, Kirstie Simson, Smadar Emor, Ruth Zappora, Julyen Hamilton and many others).
Study
The study I find important is primarily the Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies, N.Y., training in dance-movement therapy (TANTER Prague), Hakomi method (Bilbao, Spain), and the discipline of authentic movement (Fran Lavendel, Irmgard Halstrup). Currently also the department of author's work and pedagogy at Prague's DAMU.
